Walk of Fame
 In
1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the creation
of a special celebrity landmark. The "Hollywood Walk of Fame"
was designed to honor the contributions of artists in the entertainment
industry. Comprised of pink and charcoal terrazzo squares, the
Walk now covers an 18-block stretch of Hollywood Boulevard.
Since its inception, receiving a star has been considered one
of the most prestigious honors a celebrity can receive.
Marilyn Monroe's Hollywood Walk of Fame star is located at 6901
Hollywood Boulevard. In addition to Marilyn's name is an image
of a motion picture camera, which marks her career achievements
as a movie star.
