Marilyn Monroe Proves - There's No Business Like Show Business

On Tuesday, Oct. 24, Forbes.com released their annual Top-Earning Dead Celebrity list. Once again, landing in the top-10 was the original blonde bombshell herself, Marilyn Monroe.
According to the online version of the popular business magazine, Monroe earned $8 million last year, which landed her at ninth place overall. Since her death in 1962, the late actress and model has become one of the most sought after Hollywood icons used in licensing.
Recent deals featuring Monroe's likeness include a perfume line in Europe as well as advertising campaigns with Dom Perignon, Absolut and General Motors. With a loyal fan base that manage to keep demand for the actress high, Monroe remains profitable in the eyes of business owners and entrepreneurs around the world.
Since 2001, Forbes.com has released their top-grossing deceased celebrities in the world and 2006 marks the sixth consecutive year that Monroe has made the list. According to Forbes.com, earnings estimates cover the 12 months between October 2005 and October 2006, and measure pre-tax gross earnings before management fees and other expenses.
