Don't Bother to Knock (1952)
This drama features
an airline pilot (played by Richard Widmark) who is staying
in a New York hotel were his girlfriend Lyn (played by Anne
Bancroft) is a singer. After being jilted by his girlfriend,
he becomes acquainted with Marilyn's character, Nell Forbes,
who is hired as a babysitter by a family in the hotel. She fails
to mention on her resume that she was recently released from
a mental institution. It soon becomes apparent to the pilot
and everyone else that Nell is a very unstable and deeply disturbed
person. Based on the novel by Charlotte Armstrong.
